What happens after you test

Testing is the first step.

Your results help you understand what’s in your water and guide what to do next.

Depending on your results, you may choose to:

  • Monitor over time
  • Explore filtration options
  • Speak with local experts or agencies

Why Cyclopure is different

We are a mission-driven company focused on lowering the cost of PFAS testing and filtration, making safe water accessible everywhere, for everyone.

Cyclopure changes the sampling step:

  • PFAS are captured at the point of collection using a DEXSORB®-loaded extraction disc
  • Only the disc is returned to the lab

The analysis itself remains the same:

  • HPLC-MS/MS with isotope dilution
  • Validated to EPA quality control requirements

Powered by DEXSORB®

WTK uses our DEXSORB® adsorbent to extract PFAS at the point of testing, preserving the sample in its on-site condition and eliminating the need to ship water to a lab.

Easy. Accurate. Affordable.

Cyclopure’s analytical methods are validated to the requirements of EPA Methods 533, 537, and 1633. Analytics for 55 PFAS analytes are done to a 1.0 ppt level of quantification on a Thermo Orbitrap LC–MS at Cyclopure’s labs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses Cyclopure’s test kits?

Households | State and Federal Agencies | The Navy Research Institutions | Environmental Groups

What types of water can I test?

The kit can be used for:

  • Tap water
  • Well water
  • Surface water (rivers, lakes, streams)
What does the Water Test Kit Pro test for?

Cyclopure’s lab tests 55 PFAS analytes including all 40 EPA Method 1633 compounds.

How does the test work?

The test kit uses Cyclopure’s DEXSORB® adsorbent for PFAS in an extraction-disc to capture PFAS at the time of water sampling. This method permits real-time sampling of PFAS, providing an instant snapshot (a “polaroid”) of the water quality.

Do I need any special equipment or training?
  • No lab experience needed
  • Simply wear the gloves included in the kit
  • Pass water through the collection cup
  • Box up cup and return to Cyclopure lab
How accurate are the results?
  • ~99% accuracy in split sample testing
  • >99% consistency of duplicates
  • Similar accuracy to commercial labs, validated in side-by-side testing

“Overall, the EGLE, Merit and Cyclopure test results taken during this sampling effort showed good comparability between the three different lab results. Results between the three laboratories were typically within a few parts per trillion of one another.” Michigan PFAS Action Response Team November 2025 Report

What instrumentation does Cyclopure use in the lab?

Cyclopure’s analytical lab uses high-performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) paired with isotope dilution for PFAS measurement.

How are PFAS quantified?

Cyclopure uses calibration curves established using EPA methods, and incorporates isotope dilution, where mass-labeled PFAS standards are added to each sample to ensure accurate, reliable quantification down to 1 part per trillion (ppt).

Are Cyclopure’s methods aligned with EPA standards?

Yes. Cyclopure’s analytical methods are validated to the requirements of EPA Methods 533, 537, and 1633.

Cyclopure lab methodology follows EPA protocols for:

  • Calibration
  • Internal standardization
  • Quality control and reporting limits
Does PFAS analysis follow commercial lab procedures?

Yes. Analytical steps are the same.

Cyclopure uses:

  • HPLC-MS/MS
  • Isotope dilution
  • EPA-aligned quality control procedures

The difference is sample collection. Cyclopure test kits extract PFAS at the time of sample collection. Commercial labs extract PFAS in the lab from water samples shipped to the lab.

What makes Cyclopure’s approach different?

With funding from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Cyclopure leveraged its DEXSORB adsorbent for PFAS to develop a point-of-use water test kit and make PFAS testing affordable, accurate, and easy to use.

Why is the Cyclopure Water Test Kit less expensive than commercial lab tests?

Several factors go into this. The main reason is Cyclopure uses its analytical resources for multiple activities: Materials Development and Production; Residential Filter Product Development; Engineered System Design; and Water Testing. We are able to spread expenses of instruments, materials, and personnel across these uses. We pass on these cost efficiencies to make the Water Test Kit affordable.

Second, our workflow also provides cost efficiencies. Point of use extraction of PFAS avoids shipment of water samples, greatly reducing costs associated with logistics and handling.

Is the test EPA-certified?

EPA certification requires labs to follow a fixed workflow, including:

  • Collection and shipping of water
  • Performance of PFAS extraction in lab

Cyclopure performs extraction at the point of collection, which improves efficiency but differs from the EPA-defined process.

How long does it take to get results?

Standard turnaround time is 10–14 business days after receipt of the test kit at our lab. Results are sent from wtkreports@cyclopure.com or can be mailed via USPS.

What happens after I get my results?

Testing is the first step. Your results help you:

  • Understand if there are PFAS in your water
  • Decide whether to monitor or filter your water
  • If you require filtration, Cyclopure offers DEXSORB® home filter solutions
Is this test right for me?

Good fit if you:

  • Want to know your water quality
  • Do not require a certified test
  • Are looking for an accurate, affordable and easy to use PFAS test
How many samples has Cyclopure tested?

Cyclopure has analyzed over 35,000 water samples across all 50 states.

Over 35,000 Samples Tested

Cyclopure’s lab tests for 55 PFAS analytes, including all 40 compounds covered under EPA Method 1633. We measure and quantify PFAS at an LOQ of 1.0 ppt (1 ng/L), the lowest of any commercial lab. We have rated over 96% for consistency in test scoring.
