On Monday, January 27th, Cyclopure’s Manager of Environmental Engineering, Amma Kankam, spoke with the Society of Women Engineers at the University of Chicago.
Originally from Ghana, Amma studied Chemical Engineering at Yale University with a plan to pursue a career in academia. It was in her third year of college that she found her way towards environmental engineering through a research project focused on wastewater treatment. Since then, she has been interested in making the future of clean water a possibility for everyone.
At the Fireside Chat, Amma discussed the reality of transitioning from college to professional life, what it’s like to be an Environmental Engineer, and what skills she has transferred over from the classroom to her current position.
Thank you to Arya Naik from the Society of Women Engineers for reaching out and inviting Amma to share her experience as an Engineer at Cyclopure. It was great to connect with students and show them how the classroom experience becomes applicable in the industry.
Engineering makes you a real-life problem solver. What questions do I need to ask to reach a solution?
